Grandia (video game)
Grandia is a role-playing video game developed by Game Arts and published by Entertainment Software Publishing for the Sega Saturn in 1997. It uses 3D environments with 2D animated bitmap sprites for characters. The camera rotates freely in third-person and must be rotated to reveal hidden items or passageways. The game features a rotational party roster. Party members' statistics increase upon leveling up through experience points earned from defeating enemies. Characters learn new abilities by repeatedly using weapons or spells until their Skill Level increases. Weapons are divided into classes: swords, maces, axes, whips, and knives. A Skill screen in the main menu lists each party member's potential abilities and their learning requirements. The game encourages periodic switching between weapons.
